Rolex Player Of The Year Points

The Rolex Player of the Year Award recognizes the most competitive PGA Professional in the Aloha Section during the tournament season, which runs from January 1 through December 31. Points are awarded based on finishing position in designated Aloha Section PGA tournaments approved by the Tournament Committee.

At the conclusion of the season, the player with the highest cumulative point total will be named the Aloha Section PGA Rolex Player of the Year and will be recognized at the Aloha Section Ho`olaulea Hawaii Golf Awards Ceremony.

Eligibility For Player Of The Year Points

  • Must be a Class A member of the Aloha Section PGA in good standing.
  • Seniors competing in a “Senior Professional” flight may earn Player of the Year points if they compete from the same tournament tee.
  • Associates are not eligible for points.

Awarding Points

Points will be awarded in the order of how players finish in the field. If non-members are commingled with Section Members, the Section Member who finishes the highest in the field will earn the 1st place points and so on down the list. Exception for USGA Qualifiers: Points will be awarded if an eligible player finishes in the qualifying or alternate positions only.

  • Points shall be awarded based on the ranking of the eligible players in the field. See chart below.
  • There must be a minimum of three eligible Members in the field for the event to award full points.
    • For events that do not meet the minimum requirement, the participant(s) will receive 10th place points within the respective tournament category.
  • Participation points:
    • Players finishing in 15th place and beyond will receive 15th place points within the respective tournament category.
    • All Players who miss a cut will receive fixed points equivalent to the value of the next finishing position after the last player to make the cut. If eight or fewer eligible players make the cut, a fixed value equal to tenth place will be awarded.
  • Four-Ball/Team Tournaments:
    • Half points will be awarded for the eligible players in their respective categories.
    • For the EZ-Go Facilities, the “wheel” member earns points once for their highest finish.
  • Players who fail to complete a round (withdraw or no card) or are disqualified will not be awarded points for that event.
  • If there is a tie for POY after the final event, co-champions will be awarded, and prize money will be split evenly between the players.

Sony Open in Hawaii | PGA TOUR | Exemption

Due to the discontinuation of the Sony Open in Hawaii, the Aloha Section PGA will no longer have a Section Professional exemption into a PGA TOUR event beginning in 2027.

ROLEX | Partnership Announcement

Through its national partnership with The PGA of America, ROLEX will become the presenting sponsor of the national PGA Professional Player of the Year awards. The Swiss watchmaker and the world’s largest professional sporting association are also pleased to announce a similar partnership at the section level, which will enhance the opportunities of all the Aloha Section PGA professionals.

Senior Player Of The Year Point

The Senior Player of the Year Award recognizes the most competitive senior PGA Professional in the Aloha Section during the tournament season, which runs from January 1 through December 31. Points are awarded based on finishing position in designated Aloha Section PGA tournaments approved by the Tournament Committee.

Eligibility For Player Of The Year Points

  • Must be Class A members of the Aloha Section PGA in good standing.
  • Members must be aged 50 or older at the start of the tournament.
  • Seniors may earn player of the year points if they compete from the same tournament tee.
  • Associates are not eligible for points.

Associate Player of the Year Points

The Associate Player of the Year Points identifies the most competitive Associate Professional of the Aloha Section PGA during the tournament season of January 1 – December 31.

The criteria for earning this honor are based on points awarded during Aloha Section PGA operated and affiliated tournaments approved by the Section’s Tournament Committee.

At the conclusion of the season, the player with the highest cumulative point total will be named the Aloha Section Senior Player of the Year and will be recognized at the Aloha Section Ho`olaulea Hawaii Golf Awards Ceremony.

Eligibility For Player Of The Year Points

  • Must be a Level 2 or 3 Associate member of the Aloha Section PGA in good standing.
  • A player who has completed level 3 but has not yet been elected to membership by the completion of the final event is eligible.
