Kapalua Resort – The Plantation Course hosted round one of the Kapalua Hall of Fame Championship today with 35 Aloha Section PGA professionals playing in three different age divisions on the par 73 layout.
The Championship division is led by Kevin Carll of Waialae Counry Club with a two under par score of (71). Carll leads by two over Kevin Shimomura of Ko Olina Golf Club (73). Shimomura was the defending champion from last year.
In the Senior division, Lance Taketa from Hilo Municipal Golf Course fired a three under par (70) and leads by three over Stephen Sanchez from Kapalua’s Bay Course (73).
In the Super Senior division, Kenneth (Kenny) Springer from Big Island Sod fired an even par (73) and leads by four over Bill Hunt from GolfTec (77).
Tomorrow’s final round will be played at Kapalua’s Plantation Course with tee times starting at 7:20 a.m.
This event is also combined with the Aloha Senior PGA Section Championship. The top three (3) finishers in the Senior Division will earn spots in the 27th Senior PGA Professional National Championship held October 15-18, 2015 at Bayonet & Black Horse in Monterey, California.
