WAIKOLOA, HAWAII – JUNE 6, 2018 – Hilo native Lacey Uchida will compete in her first Junior PGA Girls Championship this summer at The Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky. Uchida posted at two-day total of (77-76=153) to finish +9 today at windy Waikoloa Golf Course. Joining Uchida will be Reese Guzman who also shot +9 (79+74=153).
Davis Lee climbed to the top to win the boys championship. Lee shot +3 today to finish (76+75=151), just two shots ahead of round 1 leader Jordan Terada who posted a (79) today to finish (74+79=153). Lee and Terada will be representing the Aloha Section in the Boys Junior PGA Championship which will be held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, one week after the girls’ event.
In the Boys 13-15 Division, Joshua Chung won the boys title while Lacey Uchida took the girls title. Justin Todd was victorious in the Boys 11-12 division and Teal Matsueda claimed the Girls 11-12 championship.

Overall champions from the boys’ and girls’ divisions (age 13-18) of the Aloha Junior PGA Championship will advance to the PGA of America’s flagship junior event, the 43rd Boys/Girls Junior PGA Championship. The Girls Junior PGA Championship will be held from July 9-12, 2018 at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky and the Boys Junior PGA Championship will be held from July 31-August 3, 2018 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Junior PGA Championship has traditionally been a stepping-stone for many of today’s PGA and LPGA Tour professionals, as well as current collegiate stars. Past Junior PGA Championship competitors who have gone on to successful professional careers on tour include: Inbee Park, Luke Guthrie, Trevor Immelman, Cristie Kerr, Justin Leonard, Hunter Mahan, Phil Mickelson, Grace Park, Dottie Pepper, Jordan Spieth, Lexi Thompson, David Toms, Michelle Wie and Tiger Woods.
