Having just moved to the islands in 2016, Scott Reinhart, PGA has already assimilated nicely into the local community thanks to his work with the Special Olympics Maui. As an Assistant Professional at The Plantation Course at Kapalua, Scott utilizes his teaching skills and resources to host weekly golf clinics for Special Olympics athletes. Every Wednesday afternoon, The Kapalua Golf Academy fills up with aspiring players, captivated and motivated to learn more about the game. The clinics cover a variety of skills, from putting to chipping and driving. Necessities such as clubs, balls and refreshments are provided for each participating athlete, so there are no requirements necessary to join. According to Scott, “all they need to bring is a smile!”
This extraordinary group of players has become like a second family to Scott and he states that it has been a blessing for him to be involved with such kind hearted and inspiring individuals. As an Aloha Section PGA member, Scott’s efforts with the Special Olympics Maui epitomize our mission “to develop and promote the game of golf while enhancing the lives of those that participate.” Mahalo Scott for all that you do!
