The Kā‘anapali Classic Pro Pro is again held at Kā‘anapali Golf Course for its 12th year in a row on the Royal course. The two-person team event brings together some of Hawaii’s top golf professionals in a two-day 36-hole best-ball competition. Sponsored by Kā‘anapali Golf Courses and presented by GPS Industries, the Kā‘anapali Classic Pro Pro is the start of the Aloha Section PGA’s summer tournament schedule. The event is also held in conjunction with the Aloha Section PGA Summer Membership Meeting.
The fierce West Maui winds of Kā‘anapali challenged the field of professionals through the first round today. Though this barely affected the players’ abilities to make birdies, Kevin Hayashi, PGA and Kevin Carll, PGA lead the tournament after round one with a team total of -7 (63). With no surprise, the duo battled the West Maui winds and still managed to keep ahead by three strokes of Alex Chiarella and Alex Omer. The chase continues as the rest of the field has many close ties, with four groups tied at 68 and four groups tied at 69.
Round 2 of this event will continue tomorrow with a shotgun start at 7:00AM on the Royal Course. For Round 1 Results and Round 2 Pairings, please visit aspga.com. Get social with us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat. @alohasectionpga #LetAlohaHappen
